Fixed wireless point to multipoint local loop telecommunication system providing telephone service to subscribers in urban, suburban and remote communities by connecting subscribers to the local telephone network by means of radio links rather than through conventional copper distribution plant and being comprised of several components, namely (1) a radio port control unit (RPCU) which is connected to the local exchange; (2) radio port units (RPUs) connected to the RPCU, which provide radio link coverage to the service area; (3) standard digital subscriber line interfaces (DSL interfaces), which serve as the connecting link between the RPCU and the RPUs and which provide the power supply to the RPU; and (4) fixed access units (FAUs) which are mounted outdoors at subscriber premises to provide a standard wired interface with subscribers' telecommunications equipment, such as telephones, fax machines, and modems, and to complete the radio link with the RPUs
