Surgical system consisting of a closed loop extracorporeal system providing circulatory and gas-exchange support for extracorporeal perfusion that can be used for both arrested and beating heart surgeries; the system is provided as a sterile system with a non-pyrogenic fluid pathway for single use only and is not to be re-sterilized by the user; the systems reduction in circuit size and replacement of gravity drainage by kinetic- assisted drainage, leads to reduction of blood to air contact, reduced exposure of blood to silicone, reduced hemodilution, reduction in blood component transfusions, and reduction in exposure of blood to foreign surface area.
