1; The "Eclipse" is a brand name/trade name given to a very unique sport parachute harness and container system as originally designed, developed, and named the "Eclipse" back in 1982; The system's original designer was a parachute engineer and Master Parachute Technician named Bill Johnson of Atlanta, GA; Under the name of his company, Quantum Leap Enterprises, Bill Johnson was given a license by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to manufacture, market, and sell this parachute harness and container system to the skydiving community using the name "Eclipse"; In 2005 I purchased Quantum Leap Enterprises and the "Eclipse" TSO (a Federal License issued by the FAA), to manufacture this particular parachute harness and container system; Note-- Back in 1982, a trade mark/trade name was not applied for formally; 2; The name "Eclipse" is noted on documentation submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to identify this particular parachute system; The Federal Aviation Administration issued a TSO (Technical Standard OrderÂ…a federal "license") to Quantum Leap Enterprises in 1982, to allow the manufacture of this parachute harness and container system; The FAA document package that contains the blue prints, construction diagrams, construction procedures, and quality assurance and quality control manuals (as required by the FAA), refer to this particular design of sport parachute harness and container as the "Eclipse" model on all documents, blue-prints, and construction directions; Note-- Other manufacturers of other competitive brands of harness and container designs, use other brand names to differentiate (and market) their own particular harness and container system to the skydiving community; For example, other parachute harness and container systems names include the-- "Talon", "Telesis", "Javelin", "Racer", "VooDoo", "Vortex", "Vector", Sidewinder", etc; 3; The "Eclipse" harness and container system is completely unique within the parachute industry in that the system is extremely simple and easy to manufacture, yet it is still qualified under a FAA TSO (above); The "Eclipse" harness and container system is basically sewn together from only seven (7) major pieces of fabric and webbing; Most all other competitive sport parachute harness and container systems use over 10-times this number of pieces of fabric, webbing, and hardware in their construction; 4; Directly, and because it is so simple a design, the "Eclipse" is further unique because it only requires approximately 15-man hours to sew together; The typical (competition's design) harness and container system required nearly 3-times this amount of man-hours to construct; 5; The FAA issued their TSO (license to manufacture) the "Eclipse" only to Mr; Bill Johnson and Quantum Leap Enterprises (a sole proprietorship small business, owned by Bill Johnson)
